About

Data is growing at an astronomical rate; according to one estimate, the amount of digital data in the world will grow by a factor of 50 between 2011 and 2020.  (Source: IDC Digital Universe)  Such an explosion presents a headache for data architects, but a boon for those data scientists who can snare insight from the deluge.

This blog aims to showcase topics that effectively deal with data.  Classically, this involves statistics.  Nowadays, “big data” necessitates the inclusion of computer science. As a result, there are many different ways to grind your data, boil it, froth it, steam it, and present it.

The tools which will be explored by this barista include forecasting, machine learning, mathematical optimization, personal project showcases, and other miscellany from the realms of math and statistics.

About the Data Barista: I possess a Master’s degree in Mathematics, a caffeine fondness, and an affinity for all things statistical.
